Mingardo

Padova - Italy

Mingardo Metal Carpentry was founded in 1970 by Mingardo Ilario, who had almost twenty years’ experience in the metal processing field. The production was initially focused on simple carpentry works for the construction industry. Over the time it has become more refined, enabling the company to collaborate with internationally renowned companies and architects: from the first collaborations with architect Carlo Scarpa to recent commissions for Museo del Novecento in Milan, Parco della Musica in Florence, and Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari. Great results were achieved over the years with the production of exclusive metal products. All creations are handwrought by an highly skilled team of specialised artisans. The factory is today highly regarded in the local artisan terrain for its high-end refined finishes and detailing, and for its know-how.

“My father always told me: if you need something, do it with iron!”

“I have started working in my father’s workshop when I was 18. After the middle school I think is rather hard to know with certainty what will you do when you grow up. Only after school has started my personal experience inside the metal carpentry but I rapidly realised that this was the work that I would not have changed with anything else. What drives me is the passion for the iron and for the concreteness of the things, for the desire to learn that, instead of diminish, it increases.”

Daniele Mingardo

With his brand Mingardo Daniele made his debut as an independent manufacturer of hand-made and numbered design objects during the Milan Design Week 2013, at the age of 25. Daniele, born on 8th June 1988, was raised in his father’s workshop, founded in 1970 in Monselice (PD). The decision to create his own brand as manu-facturer of numbered design objects comes from the desire to overcome the business mo-del of traditional craft by developing an innovative business project able to transfer artisanal skills to contemporary metal objects designed by emerging and established designers. Thanks to Federica Biasi’s professional contribution, the new art director at the helm of the company, Mingardo seeks, in its num-bered series, refinement and an agreement of the new collections with the new stylistic direction. Design becomes icon, lines elegant and refined, brand communication stronger and more defined. Knowledge and traditional craftsmanship (the know-how coming from the “Faber”, the maker) merge with the contemporary design ideals, creating a self-produced collection that is named after its creator: Designer Faber.
