Product Details: Angolo Retto, Table available in different sizes and materials by The Circles

“In designing this table, we used a very simple construction technique so as to enhance the intrinsic characteristics of each material.”
The shape is the result of using specific materials. The frame is made of 12 laminated timber beams cut and carefully assembled to 90 degrees while the top is either an iron or stone slab simply resting on the frame.

BIG FRAME
SIZE: L 224 cm W 101 cm H 80 cm
The frame is made of laminated timber beams at 80×120, as used to manufacture coatings and bridges. this gives the frame strenght and stability. The manufacturing technique is as the big frame but with a slim profile.
LIGHT FRAME
SIZE: L 196 cm W 88 cm H 80 cm
The wooden frame is thinner than the classic version. Reliability and resistance remain the main features while the product becomes suitable for also smaller spaces.

MATRAIA STONE TOP
The stone top comes from Matraia, a small quarry in the hills of Lucca. It is treated with fire, a fairly unknown and difficult to duplicate artisan technique handed down from generation to generation. The treatment enhance the quality of the stone and makes it more resistant to atmospheric agents.
CALAMINE IRON TOP
The calamine iron slab is 4/5mm thick. It is simply cleaned and hand waxed. It can oxidize by being left outside but other than that, it is practically indestructible.
WALNUT WOOD
To embellish an item, we use more refined materials but always respecting them. Our craftsmen have made a type of laminate using Italian walnut wood which is still regarded as a rich and elegant wood.
FIR WOOD
The fir wood beams are used to build resistant timber houses and bridges. Its wide use within the architectural circles and the security it offers are the reasons that has pushed us to use it.

“The stone, as well as iron and wood are not treated with paints that form transparent films, but are subjected to natural processes that enhance the materiality of the products. The treated Matraia stone is an example. We like to say that our objects can be recognized with closed eyes because each material can be identified simply by touching it.”
“For us it was important to keep the concept of simplicity in all aspects of design and including assembly. “Angolo Retto” is very simple and quick to assemble, in fact it is necessary to screw only 8 screws.”
